With all my heart, I want to work for Afghan women. I want to stop the violence and the lack of information for women. My goal is to improve their lives and save them from many problems.

My innocent thoughts demand me
To write your name on my hands
On papers, notebooks, books,
On my table.

I want to respect each other
and make every day a lucky day to live
for today and the next generation.

The next day, several relatives arrived at our house. I was not aware at first of what was going on, but then I understand they were at my home to buy me. I was such a pretty toy, a pretty toy to play with.

When I heard this, I began to laugh. Rabia saw this and she also started laughing. I tried my best to look sad, but could not.

You know, when we pass by
We forget to smile
We act as blind, deaf and mute
Is it killing to say hi?

Last week the Air Force Institute of Technology hosted author and professor, Melissa Pritchard, as part of their Commandant Speaker’s Series. The AFIT Commandant, Maj. Gen. Walter Givhan, invited her to share her experiences as an embedded reporter with the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan, interviewing female military members.
