I enjoyed reading it so much. ~~Wishing and praying you receive all the things you ask for, Diane Reply Pam on Oct 30, 2011 at 9:30 am I love this Asma! Especially the line, “give me glitter.” There is so much ugliness in the world but the stars are always beautiful and always comforting. Good luck to you. Pam Reply Stacy Le Melle on Nov 2, 2011 at 11:07 pm BEAUTIFUL! When I am back in the classroom, I will definitely share this poem with students. I will ask them to write their own evening prayers, using yours as a model. Reply Amber Clifford on Nov 9, 2011 at 10:05 am This was a beautiful prayer. I especially enjoyed the part “Give me clear thought beauty of stars untouched peace”. It reminds me of the character, Laila, in A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Where you write “Give me decision action success” is what made me think of her. She was an intelligent young woman always looking for a way to take action. It is these qualities in her that drove her to have a better life. In the end of the story she becomes a teacher, which to her and her family is a great success. Please keep on writing, you do have talent. Also keep looking to the calm night sky, it will always be there to help you. -Katie T. Reply Matt on Nov 18, 2012 at 8:07 pm Dear Asma, I really enjoyed this poem. Often when I am having trouble sleeping at night, I go and sit outside to watch the stars. While I am doing this, I often think about different things that are going on in my life. I think about the things that are going well and the things that are not going so well. I often come up with good ideas about how to change the things that are not going so well in my life. It sounds to me that you sometimes do the same thing. In my opinion, the night time is the best time to go out and just be alone with your own thoughts. I hope that you can continue to enjoy calm nights and I look forward to reading more beautiful poems such as this one in the future! Sincerely Matt Reply Submit a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.Comment Name Email Website Notify me of follow-up comments by email. Notify me of new posts by email.
