The Yellow Paper Flower Sketch

mina-t-flower-sketchComronAzimiyear1360It was many years ago
When I studied in university.
I had a small, lovely friend then,
The young brother of a classmate.

He sketched for me, one day,
On a piece of yellow paper.
It was a simple drawing,
Drawn by a young hand,
Showing a child’s love,
A flower on the edge.

Time went forward.
People moved away.
I kept the drawing with me,
Saved my spiritual treasure—
An old, yellow piece of paper.
I hoped, one day, to meet him again.

Through Facebook, I found
My young friend, all these years later,
A doctor, now, with his own family,
In far-away London.

And he remembered me,
Sent a warm greeting.
In return, I sent him
The precious sketch.
He said, “Love you, Sister.”
I said, “Me too, Brother.”

For this, I am grateful to the Internet.
I salute science, and connections with others,
Thank those who love each other,
Thank Allah for creating understanding.

      Hi everyone

I would like to thanks everyone who put their voluble and outstanding comments here, specially a big thanks to my dear beloved sister Mina jan.

yeah!!! This is true, from almost 31 years ago!!!

I really do appreciate, she has kept and shared a sign of a pure love which could be a lonely symbol for a true and voluble relationship between a brother and sister in the world!

If she ask me now to “draw again this flower for me”,
      I will say,
Sorry, I can’t draw the same after 31 years!!!!
      Oh!!! don’t worry! :)

Do you know why I say like that?

      As the time have passed,
      our age have got increased,
      our relationship got stronger,

      Now ! after 31 years!
      imagine,
What about that bucket of flower!!!!!

Do you think it should be still the same?

      No, never!

      Rather,
I wish, this time I could draw a garden of the beautiful flowers for her so she could live, joy, laugh, sit, talk and sleep comfortable with peace of mind among those beautiful flowers forever!

      That is true!

A wish of a true brother

I wish it comes true to every brother and sister.

      best wishes

      Your lovely brother :)

  2. I liked the poem but I loved the picture, what a true story and what a honesty in expressing your self.
I used to call all male friends brother…. I liked to call them so that I felt safe but I quit to call them after I got married, my husband didnt like me to call others brother, he thought me to have self confidence and call men by their first or last names.
By the way, beautiful poem, beautiful memories, keep writing!

    Best
    N

  3. What a wonderful story Mina. Yes, technology can do some amazing things! Thanks for the remembrance. And for reminding me about the importance of connection.

  4. I am glad you found him after so many years, thanks to technology.
What I found very touching and beautiful was that you kept that letter with you, all this time.
    Thanks for sharing.

  5. This warms my heart very much. I think anyone who reads this will feel that great warmth of connection. I am so glad that you were able to share that precious bit of your past with him–and with us. Stacy
