Kunduz is going through hard times
But our government is deaf
Our government is blind
People scream and cry
My beloved people
Had only just begun to live without war,
Had only just begun to see what peace might mean.
And, then, BAM BAM!
The sounds of fire at 3 in the morning
People awake, confused and terrified.
No! No!
Don’t let that girl be taken away from her family
Don’t let the boy get killed by cruel Taliban,
Don’t let the city become red
Red with the blood of martyrs.
