My soul is tired and aged,
Struggling without gain,
In limbo.
Sometimes
I break down into a hundred pieces,
Only to come together once again.
Sometimes
I don’t know where I am—
Here, there, everywhere, nowhere…
Sometimes
While out searching myself,
In the chaos of my mind,
I sink into the ocean of thoughts;
Mixed up with present, past, and future,
A question reflecting in my ear:
Who am I, who am I?
But I am nothing more than a picture of black and white.
Uncertain, confused, and lifeless—
without light.

Farida — This is a complex, beautifully written poem — that is full of life and light — even though the words claim otherwise. Your poem uses clear imagery to express universal truths — just as black and white photos use scales of gray to illuminate the world. The feelings here are personal and universal — something that many can relate to. Thank you for sharing this. All best wishes, Nancy
WOW! Beautiful writing, Farida!
Farida, you are beautiful, that is who you are! AND human!
I love the title of your poem, and when you said
“Mixed up with present, past, and future,
A question reflecting in my ear:
Who am I, who am I?”
Because with black and white, everything is ageless, and has no time.
Besides being human, and beautiful, you are also a woman, someone who is nurturing and kind. You can also put together beautiful words, full of truth, and power. You, are a poet, that is who you are!
Keep on staying blessed.
Much love.
You already know who you are 😉 and you have one life to live, so be you!
