Letter to the Taliban
My eyes are open all night
Recalling the knock on the door
When you came for my dad.
My eyes are open all night
Recalling the knock on the door
When you came for my dad.
What if I die tomorrow?
Nothing is so easy.
I don’t live in yesterday
He is proud of Afghanistan
No one can change his mind
Even as the sky throws bullets
Strangely people still smile
See all the graves
All the blood
The sky of smoke?
God is unhappy
my heart wants to cry to the seas
because only the depth of the ocean can know
the secret of my heart
We humans have invented so much
In the 21st century
Why can’t we discover
Our own pure hearts
I touch the river and
I see how lucky I am
To feel its wetness
Question: “Do you love mountain climbing?”
Answer: “My land is the Hindu Kush Mountains”
Asked again: “Who are you who walked to our land?”
Remembering Nowruz
I see a smile on my face
A light in my eyes
Strength in my heart
