Welcome, Leeda.
I look forward to reading your writing, and learning more about Afghan women.
Dear Leeda,
You are incredibly brave, being able to come out and write about horrible tragedies that happen in Afghanistan. The sadness and suffering is shown throughout your writing. You tell the stories of Afghan women, and you help and inspire them deeply by doing that, because you believe it is a woman’s duty to help each other. You are also brave writing about your thoughts, and how you are powerful because you are a woman with a voice. I am so inspired by your poems, I Want to Speak and I am Female – in Other Words, Human. You speak about how we are all equal, female or male and how we should be treated the same. You state women could change the world just as easily as a man, and how women don’t need a man to succeed, and I couldn’t agree more.
Your photos you take are beautiful, they really do speak a thousand words. They show us a side of Afghanistan we are not used to seeing. I am so proud of you for not giving up your photography just because the male photojournalists tell you to stop, because in reality they are just scared of competition. Your passion and drive inspires me to be a stronger and bolder person.
