I exercised my political rights and voted and now it is time that you should begin to work for me. Despite the risks, many Afghan women joined together to vote on Election Day. We faced many problems getting to the polling stations in our city, but we went because we believed in your speeches and your plans for our future.

Now we want you to work hard to provide equal rights for us. You are the one who must fight to stop violence against women. We want you to provide for us—first education and then job opportunities.

Mr. President, pay attention because Afghan women are now aware of our political rights and many of the voters were women. We want new governance that gives value to women and allows women an active role in political matters. We want your wife to work closely with you and we want women who understand our problems included in your government.
