My dear brother
Today’s women are different from yesterday’s women
You must change your old ideas
Today’s women are powerful and you can’t play with us
We do not consider men as like God
You should trust us
Today’s women are educated
We’re skilled in technology
We are doctors and we can treat you now!
It is time to respect us
Let go of your grandfather’s and father’s ways
Those days are over
You need to change your ideas
Like me, today’s women are powerful
Dear brother, you should accept this

Tell it, sister!
Well said!
Yes, yes, yes, and yes, dear Leeda. I love this poem so much. Every line = truth. Stacy
I love the photo and the poem together. It is as if I am seeing the faces and and hearing the voice of the the strong, young women of Afghanistan . I like how your poem addresses the men directly. Thank you for a very powerful statement! Suzanne
Dear Leeda,
very well said, acceptance of our differences, in skills, powers, and qualities are essential for our today’s society in order to end violence, and underestimating women.
Leeda,
This is an excellent poem! Having spent some time in the hospital recently, I can appreciate the line, “We are doctors and we can treat you now!” In other words, I observed a significant amount of Afghani, female doctors.
Furthermore, It portrays a lot of passion, courage, and literary skill. It was creative and insightful to write it in the context of a letter. Was there a reason why you chose to write it as a letter to a brother?
